Hauntingdon Ave. 2009
Halloween 2009 was celebrated in style in Remington. Residents on the 2900 block of Huntingdon Avenue volunteered use of their front porches to create the second annual “Hauntingdon Avenue”. Hauntingdon was a safe and fun way to trick or treat lighting up the block and offering over 15 activities on porches and the sidewalk. Some favorites were the costume photo station, the scary apothecary, and the face painting at the zombification station. There were also pumpkin toss games, hula hooping, drawing, painting and much more! Nearly 50 adult residents and 10 -15 youth residents helped make Hauntingdon happen through the donation of their time, candy and creative energy. Most decorations were hand made by both kids and adults from the community and the activities were created and run by your neighbors, who came dressed as clowns, cavemen, wearwolves, sunflowers, and mummies! Despite the slight drizzle on Halloween night, there was a great turnout and both kids and adults enjoyed themselves and many are looking forward to next year’s Hauntingdon.
Many thanks to everyone who helped plan the event, make decorations, and host activities on their porch, donated food, supplies, candy, and spooky mix cds! Also thanks go out to everyone who attended, especially in costume.
There’s a write-up in the city paper about our Hauntingdon event:
