The Dizz
The Dizz
by Eric ImhofThe Dizz, formerly called Dizzy Issie’s (or simply “Dizzy’s” by the regulars, who, by my account, still call it that) is more than just a really great restaurant and bar – it’s a hub in the neighborhood that connects people of all different ages and backgrounds. But of course, this is only the case because of the great food and reasonably priced variety of drinks. From burgers to soup to simply really good curly fries, there is something for everybody at Dizzy’s – even vegetarian options, which, being a vegetarian myself, I personally appreciate. If you’re looking for a good meal and want to meet some cool (and thirsty) neighbors in the meantime, Dizzy’s is the place to go; picture a place like “Cheers,” where you can just walk in by yourself and recognize about 25% of the people at the bar – that’s the essence of “The Dizz.”
UPDATE by Dan Schlattman and Suzanne GilbertWe recently took a trip to the new and improved “Dizz”. They now serve breakfast from 6am till 11am. It was a lovely diner-like experience. The Diz will always hold a special place for us as being ‘Baltimore in a Bar’ and now it is even more that. We were personally served by Elaine, the owner, who told us she loves this new breakfast thing. The local restaurant also just recently got outdoor seating approved and setup, though we haven’t had the chance to try that yet. The breakfast food was delicious and filling – plenty of pancakes and large portions for the omellettes. The homefries were deliciously crispy on the outside and smooth and salty on the inside. The clientel seemed small so we got extra attention and fast service. The Diz (or Dizzie Issie’s as we still call it) will remains a great lunch/dinner/bar/and now breakfast restaurant.
