Long Johns Pub
by Eric Imhof
The L.J.P. (as we call it) has been a local hub for both sports fans and those who just like a cold drink for over 32 years. Phil Crouch, the owner of the establishment, is a delightful story-teller and a proud member of the Remington community. If you like an amusing anecdote with your frosty glass of Stella, this is the place to go. And speaking of Stella, you can get one here for only $2 during the Happy Hour, which is actually a Happy-Four-Hour, every day from 4 – 8 pm. Other perks include a dartboard, a huge TV (I mean huge), and vintage posters (such as one depicting The Beatles and the Jack Nicholson as the Joker in the Tim Burton rendition of Batman). In addition, Long Johns graciously offers free food and discounted drinks at the end of our Neighborhood Walks every month (see: Neighborhood Walk Committee under Committees). In short, the staff is friendly, the owner is a good steward of the neighborhood, and the beer is cold and cheap. Oh, and the food is pretty good, too.
